Can't enlighten you unfortunately but welcome to the forum.
My wife took both pregabalin and amitriptyline for nerve pain (disk bulge) - an anti-anxiety drug and an anti-depressant. She did and still does take tramadol as well though.
I think these other drugs are meant to relax you in some way. Whether making your body / mind less tense in reaction to the pain helps, I'm not sure.
I'm surprised at pregabalin being used though as it's an expensive drug. GPs usually prescribe gabapentin for nerve pain, it's similar in action to pregabalin I believe.
Hope it works for you.
Daily Medication for GAD: Mirtazapine 15mg
Pregabalin is used primarily for seizure disorders and fibromyalgia but has been proven to be effective as an anti-anxiety med, as used for a painkiller that's a borderline topic, My dr's don't rate it as a painkiller for anythingother than firbro, i currently take it for seizures fibro and anxiety (triple whammy med for me) and i find it helps my anxiety, my seizures are under control and my fibro flares are less. Thats about all I can give unfortunately as i have only been on it for a few months

Hi Wilfy,
Pregabalin works by slowing the release of excitatory neurotransmitters in the brain. You don't say exactly why it was prescribed for you, but feeling wobbly and lazy usually wears off after a few weeks.
Hi,
I've been taking 600mgs of pregabalin now for some months now.
Worked wonders for my anxiety and withdrawal symptoms from Mirtazapine and subsequently mild withdrawal from benzodiazepines.
Have nothing bad to say about this drug - I had a many wobbly hours whilst taking this drug though. My best advice is to eat before or shortly after taking.

Live in the moment.
I agree with teej taking it with food or just after or before food is best, definitly minimises the wobbly feelings.
