My wife is a regular taker of over the counter paracetamol/codeine(cocodamol). Often starts the day with a regular dose. Recently she was averaging 3.50 tablets a day. She's been taking it for, I estimate, at least 10 years and I believe probably nearer 15/20 years.

There's a lot of information about people taking double doses etc and addicted to larger amounts. However, my wife sticks rigidly to the recommended doseage.

I'm of the view that because of the long term taking they will have little effect, but I'm concerned re addiction etc. does anyone have any views/advice on this?

Thank you.
