Recently, I have been having stomach aches. Sometimes they are in the daytime, but most often they are at night, around 1-2 in the morning. They can be really, really uncomfortable to so painful I am doubled over. Last night, I went to the bars with my friends and had just half of a drink (but it was a sweet drink which my friend said may have bothered me). Around 1 am I started having bad stomach pains that went off and on, finally I had to go to the bar restroom and threw up (a new experience for me - thank goodness for good friends who held my hair back and brought me a glass of water!).

The rest of the night I was okay, until we went home. I woke up twice in the night, with awful pains. I had to use the restroom but didn't want to go there so I waited until I got home the next morning. I did feel a little better then, but my stomach is still a bit off.

Granted, I moved home from my college house at the beginning of this semester. You'd think that would be a good thing, but it has affected my diet. I used to eat three square meals as I had busy days and couldn't be hungry, now I just snack. I didn't used to eat the greatest of food, but I never really ate candy or junk food like cookies, donuts, etc. because I never bought it. My family does, so naturally I eat quite a bit for my "snacks". My family also goes through a lot of milk (I used to just drink water with meals) and since it's there, I'm drinking more milk too.

I told my mother about my stomach pains and she seemed concerned. Of course she's a mother and worries, and she had to have her gall bladder removed years ago so she's hyperaware of that kind of thing.

I'm trying really, really hard not to let my health anxiety flare up on this one. Of course if it persists I will go to the doctor, but I want to be calm and rational (at least as much as possible!). I'm trying to improve my diet. I want to try to eat some more yogurt as I think it might help me.

I know stomach ailments are fairly popular here - has anyone else had success with dietary changes? I want to eat "cleaner" (more fruits and veggies, less processed foods, and buy local whenever possible). It's harder at home though because when I was in town I cooked for myself; now I have to eat what's there or cook for the entire household. I don't shop for the groceries and have very little say in what is picked out (beyond certain things) and if I made, say, veggie lasagna no one would eat it!
