Unhappy unintentional weight loss due to cancer or HA?

    Hey Everyone,

I'm a 26 year old Male from Canada. And i have suffered from Anxiety and HA since I was 16 years old.

I've been having some chest pain, abdomen pain that goes through my back since Feb and have lost about 30lbs since January!! I have been overly anxious about my health since Jan.However not sure if the weight lost is caused by HA or maybe cancer!!

I have been convinced I have all these cancers for the past month :Pancreas, stomach, kidney, bladder, heart failure etc..
I actually think I might have all these three at the same time(Liver,Pancreas and small intestine cancer)
I've had echo of my heart, which was normal.Blood tests are normal. And recently did an abdomenial Ultrasound (Still waiting for results, did it yesterday), which the tech told me couldnt see my pancreas as I was bloated lol...guess have to convince my GP for MRI or CAT scan.

However I was reading Pancreas cancer does not show on blood test nor bowel cancer. I'm extremly scared, here in Canada, it takes a while to see a specialist or even get tests done. MRI roughly takes about 6-12 months, my ultrasound took 2 weeks.

I'm scared I have terminal cancer and docs are missing it.I can't sleep, I'm constantly on cancer forum and reading peoples story and their diagnosis (especially the terminal ones that passed away).I spend almost 85% of my time on internet and dr.google. I dont have any panic attacks, and I dont think im anxious, but i know what i am doing is not healthy. and feels like OCD to me. I miss being on Citalopram, was thinking to go back on it . not Sure yet.

Any of you folks lost 30lbs in 2 months due to anxiety or HA? I'm eating about 3000 kCal a day. but went from 190lbs to 160lbs and loosing no matter how much i eat.

    thank you

I am down 30 pounds but I stopped drinking 4-5 sodas a day to 1 and rest is water. And I haven't been eating the best or much most days.

Hi James, regardless of normal referral times you'd be fast-tracked if your doctors suspected cancer, so you would be seen in weeks if not days rather than months. Perhaps only dr. Google suspects it? You're very young to be thinking you are dying, but I understand that your extreme anxiety is to blame and this can also affect your weight. S

Some people put weight on due to meds slowing down metabolism, and others drop weight because nervous tension with adrenaline bombing around your system. ..hence the constant panics...can speed up your metabolism even if you haven't lost appetite and are still eating normally.

I've lost 10-20 pounds in a matter of a few weeks. After I started to relax myself my weight was starting to get back to normal. It's all because of anxiety, worrying constantly and depression..try thinking more positive its easier said than done but your mind is just playing tricks! You can always talk to your doctor And request to get some tests done for your peice of mind

You'll be okay! Positive thoughts xx

    Hi there,

I am an RN with HA....go figure. Wth was I thinking, right? LOL. I want to reassure you that weight loss is not the only symptom you would be experiencing, especially with those types of cancers. I lost 4# in one week when I was in super-anxious mode. We always focus on the symptoms provided by Dr. Google...just learned that term on here today and I rather like it! There was a post somewhere on one of the forums today that provided an alternative method of google navigation which provided helpful information that didn't always result in the "C" diagnosis. I have a cancer phobia, so I am always afraid of every symptom I get. I totally understand, I do. Try to find some peace, one minute at a time if you are unable to find it one day at a time.

I can only assume with all this anxiety you haven't eaten well. If you're anything like me, my appetite is non existent when having anxiety. I've lost pounds quickly once I didn't eat for days but that is an obvious reason that I did.

Also if your heart rate is higher you are burning more calories than normal. I am down almost 30 pounds since jan. but I haven't been eating the best and cut out almost all sodas.

Something doesn't add up. 3000kCals would be impossible in standard calories to consume. Even 3000 standard calories a day is a LOT! If indeed what you're saying is accurate in standard calories, one doesn't consume that many calories and loose weight. Let us know what the doctors say and please... please... don't go posting on the cancer forums if you haven't been diagnosed. It's disrespectful to those who have been. Reading is equally as detrimental as it just feeds your fears.

You also know that what you're doing is giving an IV to your anxiety by consulting Dr Google but nothing anyone can say will make you stop unless you do it yourself.

    Good luck and as always
