    fluoxetine induced insomnia

I'm on day 8 of taking 10mg fluoxetine, and all week I've been experiencing insomnia as a side effect from this med.

has anyone else experienced this? and did it go away?

    Thanks xx

SSRI induced insomnia is a common initial side-effect of thjese meds. It usually does ease after a while, but can persist for some. Ask your GP to prescribe a small 15mg dose of mirtazapine (Remeron) to help you sleep. It may also speed up the fluoxetine kick-in a little too.

It's the night of Day One and I've been up since 1am just feeling restless.

It will get better Kiwi, trust me!

Although Panic Down Under has sound advice about seeking meds to help with the sleep, think I'll do that on Monday!

If you dropped the dose recently it could be a factor in the insomnia as quetiapine is usually very sedating so there can be rebound insomnia when withdrawing.

No, it definitely isn't that, as I dropped the quetiapine dose well before I started the fluoxetine.
