I had exactly the same last year. Sternum chest pain, referred to ED by GP querying endocarditis. Ecg etc were normal so dx with costocondritis.
Elevated CRP means nothing but inflammation - it's not unique to any particular illness or cause.
ESR is such an old test. It's been around for a LONGGG time but again it indicates....... Inflammation. Non specific.
