I really don't think medication is the answer but talking therapies more so

Agree with Nicola. This is where CBT will help you. I struggle with awful SA and medication doesn't help (much) with that. I've leant to accept that right now, being social is overrated :-))). When you go out, be cordial with others and (slightly) engaging if other people initiate you in conversation; just keep it basic if you can, no pressure.
to NMP,
No antidepressant (AD) is intrinsically better than the others, either generally, or for a specific anxiety disorder, however one or two may be for an individual.
75mg is the usual starting dose and is at the low end of the usual therapeutic dose range of 75-150mg. Most need to take more for optimum results.
How long have you been taking amitriptyline?
