For anyone suffering from obsessive thoughts: I would URGE them to get a copy of Peace from Nervous Suffering by Claire Weekes. This subject is covered, along with many others. It explains how mental fatigue is added to anxiety. Frightening thoughts cling and the sufferer makes the mistake of trying to push them away. They are NO MORE than an unwanted habit established by fear and mental tiredness. She explains that thoughts can be grotesque and the sufferer is compelled to follow then through determined to find out the worst!! Accept them as normal in your present state and never forget - they are only thoughts. It is the fear, not the thought, that tenses you. If you can accept this and live with them for the moment, you will relax and they will no longer matter. I used to read this book like a bible and it helped me so much.
