    Anti depressants and cold/flu tabs?

Wondering if anyone has had cold flu tablets (paracetamol & lil codeine) while on small dose of anti depressants?

I am on 10mg of lexapro.

I have a TERRIBLE flu and whole body sore and rang the chemist here and they said it is ok but you might get serotonin syndrome! I said do they interact and she said no but you might get bad agitation etc and serotonin syndrome lol.. She said mostly its the old anti depressants but she has read that the new ssri types can too.... :(

    What do I do?

I need something for the pain but they say even paracetamol is no good with ssri's....

I have never heard this but got me worried whether I put up with pain or take some?

Has anyone else had any probs with paracetamol while on an ssri?

P.S. I try to stay off meds if poss but my gosh my body hurts :(

I think sometimes they are over cautious..and scare you etc lol

    Cheers
    Paul

    Hi Paul,

I always took paracetamol and cold remedies whilst i was on anti-depressents, and never had any side effects from them.

    Hope you feel better soon.

    Take care

There is nothing in the literature about this Paul.

I've not known any issues with it.

Your anxiety is the human representation of the pictures that you paint using your many vivid colours of revolving and reoccurring thoughts.

    Gday Paul
As you know we're on the same meds. I live on Paracetamol because of my bad back and I have no probs.
Cold/Flu tabs usually contain pseudoethedrine (excuse spelling) which is a BIG no no for us anxiety sufferers

I recently wondered the same. The Nurofen cold and Flu tabs said that they shouldn't be taken with certain types of anti-depressant but I took them and I was fine - I think the pseudoephidrine can make hearts beat faster, etc but I didn't notice.

I take paracetamol/nurofen when I need them and I was never told otherwise.
