May have missed first pill in new pack of combined pill!

This is probably going to sound crazy!
I was due to start my new pack of the combined pill on Sunday but I'm not sure if I actually took the pill! Its not in my packet but still not sure if i actually took it or lost it.
If I haven't taken it, as it was the first pill of a new pack after the 7 day break, do i need to use extra protection for 7 days and then I will be protected against pregnancy again for the rest of the month? I've tried to research this but different sites say different things. I've been on this pill for a couple of years now and never missed one.

Any advice?

Well i would be surprised if you did not take it, as it is not in the packet, but why not just play it safe for 7 days and use the extra protection?

if your not sure you took it definitely use extra protection , id use it until my next period to be safe but its up to you x

You don't need to use extra protection I've had this problem SO many times and asked my nurse/doctor and they said if you miss 1 pill it doesn't matter you'll still be protected, however its different if you miss 2 or 3

from what i have read, you are more likely to ovulate if you extend the 7 day break by missing the first day

so is it definately seven days using extra protection before you are protected with the pill again?

If you've taken all your pills correctly and haven't had any vomiting or diarrhoae, had your 7 day break then continued your pills you should be okay. If you have prolonged your 7 day break then I'd take extra precautions, but if you've missed 1 pill anywhere in your pack then its usually fine even if its the week after you've finished your pill free week. That's what the sexual health nurse told me.

i thinkd that nurse should be telling you its safer to use extra precautions if uve missed one and just in case. baffles me that a nurse is saying that!

It says it on the leaflet for the pill anyway so it is fine. Its only bad if you make your 7 day break an 8 or 9 day break. 1 missed pill makes no difference unless you're having vomiting and diarrhea.
