Re: Abcess needs drained under general anesthesthetic
My daughter, now 29, had a large cyst...golf ball size... growing on her neck just below her ear when she was 14. The Ear, Nose & Throat specialist recommended getting it out rather than draining it as cysts often fill up again. So she had to go under general anaesthetic and was terrified, but the head man performing the op had a chat to her and told her he would look after her and everything would be fine, and everything was.
Sometimes we've just got to have faith in the specialists...in the Cardiologist who holds hearts in his hand, in the Orthopaedic surgeon who gives people new knees, in the paediatric surgeon who makes little children well again. They all know what they're doing. Don't let the scary stories get to you, things going wrong in operations are very very rare.
