And let's just say your subconscious isn't convinced if your dislike of needles is winning out over fear of imminent death.
Usual caveat though - we're not medics and are Internet randoms, and when you suspect something like this you have to use your own judgement at the end of the day. I don't say that to scare you, as I don't for a second believe you have meningitis, but we shouldn't have the responsibility of telling people they should or shouldn't seek medical help.
