The only dangerous ones in the UK are adders. They have a V-shaped marking along their back and are very, very shy.
if i saw something that looked like a snake i would run away from it without finding out what type of snake it was

You don't have to worry about dangerous snakes here in the UK, Whisper
i'm afraid of snakes though, i even run away from a slow worm when i was a kid cause i thought it was a snake

I know I'm bumping a 2 year old thread but snakes in the wild are very very rare in this country, and not something one should worry about on a daily basis.
And I say that as someone whom snakes give the heebies.
