Me too, which is why I take several steps to ensure an accurate reading..
I don't eat or drink before measuring my BP.
I sit quietly for at least 5 mins (Classic FM on)
I do deep breathing exercises.
I take three readings. (First one is always higher).
Based on previous experience, I know that time and meditation really helped, im trying to meditate every day now but my heart just races throughout and i can't focus on it. I cut out alcohol and started walking in the morning when i wake up as well as eating healthier, but yeah it's getting worse rather than better.
Exercise and dietary changes all help but what matters most of all is your thinking, and if your thoughts are fearful and fixating, then the anxiety will continue. Your body will continue to release stress hormones (fight of flight) and you will continue to focus on those symptoms..
I feel like I need to go through more pain of taking my BP before the GP will give me anything such as propranolol (which on small doses really helped in the past). Do i just need to get it done and stress through it for a week or should I work on other things instead of relying on their medication?
You don't want to be taking ANY medication unless it's absolutely necessary. (Try and work on your relaxation first)
