Re: Help and advice needed please
HI there..
Try not to give yourself a hard time about this. You are looking forward to it, only anxiety sufferers don't just get happy butterflies with excitement, we get a whole flock! But that doesnt mean we can't enjoy things. My doctor is lovely and she's really helpful. I tried to cope without medication for a couple of years, which was ok, but eventually I did need medication. Not everyone does, some people can cope well without it. Your doctor should be able to advise you on this. Mine has recently prescribed beta blockers to take "just when I need to" instead of diazepam, as they will stop the palpitations which is the thing I have most often and can cause a panic attack. I know that the palpitations are merely a reaction of my body to the adrenaline, sometimes I find them difficult to get under control and doc says I can take tablets once or twice a day, they are non-addictive and help me stay in control.
Also I do use rescue remedy. Quite a few people here do use this too. I get the spray bottle and keep it in my pocket or handbag. Its discreet to use and takes the edge off so helping me stay in control. I know the breathing exercises and other things, but sometimes they are hard to use if you feel particularly stressed. In those times rescue remedy just give you a little support which is often all you need. Hope this helps.
