If you open a thread and click reply then the post will go on that thread not a different one

im sorry but it isnt,ive replied to one lady and (same thread) and when i try to reply to someone else on that thread that reply goes on the original one depite clicking on reply to that particular post,

You reply to someone on a thread ok and then you want to reply to someone else on the same thread or a different one?
Are you sure you haven't clicked the box next to a thread or post to select it so any actions you do are on that thread
